Daniel Bessa de Melo joined Cerejeira Namora, Marinho Falcão in 2020, where he completed his traineeship for the Portuguese Bar Association, and works mainly in the Civil team.

He graduated in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto in 2020 and also holds a Master's degree in Civil Law from the same institution. In December 2022, he presented his dissertation on ‘The Compensability of Purely Patrimonial Damages in Portuguese Criminal Law’, which was awarded a grade of excellence. Subsequently, an extended version of the dissertation was published in two parts in the Revista de Direito Civil. During his degree he attended complementary training courses, took part in academic mentoring projects and was Vice-Chairman of the Course Committee.

He is the author of more than two dozen scientific articles in leading journals and book chapters on topics in the areas of Civil Liability, Contract Law, Law of Obligations, Commercial Law and Insurance Law. In particular, he has published articles in the Revista da Ordem dos Advogados, Revista Julgar, Revista de Direito Civil and Revista de Direito da Responsabilidade.

He is the author of two books - Do Trespasse de Estabelecimento Comercial and Indemnização do Dano da Privação do Uso: Teoria Geral e Aplicação Jurisprudencial - published by Almedina in 2024 and 2025 respectively. His scientific work has been cited in several judgements of the Portuguese Superior Courts, including the Supreme Court of Justice.

Since 2024 he has been a member of the Lusophone Arbitration and Mediation Association (ALAM), based in Macau.
